The Perfect Pairing--Dark Chocolate and Cabernet!

Hey San Francisco cupcakers and beyond! I went wine tasting last month for my birthday on Spring Mountain in Napa and had one of the best Cabernets ever. It reminded me why I love Chocolate Cabernet cupcakes.

With its rich black currant and blackberry flavors, Cabernet goes very well with dark, rich chocolate. The Chocolate Cabernet is a grown-up cupcake with a rich, balanced flavor. It's made with a rich, dark chocolate and Cabernet Sauvignon. Filled with light, baked goat cheese and frosted with fresh blackberry butter cream topped with a blackberry this cupcake is a match made in heaven!

Wine tasting at its BEST! And yes, I had a tasting in the trailer and it was truly one of my favorites!

Fernet with a Ginger Back

Hey San Francisco cupcakers and beyond! How many of you have polished-off a night of bar hopping around the City with a shot of Fernet (you know who you are!)?

If you haven't tried it, Fernet is made from a number of herbs and spices that vary from brand. The best way to imagine it is to imagine you are having a shot of Jägermeister without the sugar!

I can tell you it's like a strong hit of mouthwash - drying the mouth out, stinging the tongue. So, why would I try to make a cupcake with it? Well, as a small artisan cupcakery in the vibrant city of San Francisco I wanted to find something that would represent the place I call home and create a one of a kind just for the city.

I'd like to introduce you to the Summer Place Cupcake - Ginger Frenet Branca infused cupcake frosted with a fresh ginger butter cream and topped with candied ginger.

Fun fact: The drink has been popular in the San Francisco Bay Area since before Prohibition; and as of 2008, San Francisco accounted for 25% of US consumption. San Francisco bars usually serve fernet as a shot followed by a ginger ale chaser.
